Mr. John is the founder and CEO of RFG, as well as the co-founder and president of United Benefit Advisors (UBA), an alliance of the nation's premier independent employee benefit advisory firms.
His passion is developing and empowering creative leaders in order to change the world for the better.
He is an accomplished consultant and speaker on numerous topics relating to the financial services industry. Mr. John has been involved in employee benefits and financial planning for over 30 years, and believes that both professions are in the midst of re-inventing themselves.
In 2002, He co-founded United Benefit Advisors. UBA grew to be one of the five largest employee benefits advisory organizations in the United States in only eight years. In June 2009, He sold UBA to its Member Firms. He then returned to RFG, Inc. (after several years’ absence), which he founded in 1984. Shortly after that, he also became a Principal of LeaderLabs, Inc.
Today, Mr. John helps companies across the country become unstoppable organizations through his efforts with LeaderLabs Academy, a subsidiary of LeaderLabs, Inc. LeaderLabs Academy is an innovative approach to Leadership Development and Employee Engagement based on the West Point leadership model. The results can be transformational.
He is an inveterate problem solver, world traveler, avid cyclist, snow skier, and coach. He is married to Dr. Tina Schroeter and together they have two children (Reena and Dorje).
In addition to his corporate experience, Mr. John has served in many leadership roles throughout his life, including:
- Member of the National Board of Directors of the Society of Financial Service Professionals
- President of the Austin Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals
- Member of the Advisory Board of FSC Securities Corporation
- Founding & Executive Committee member of the Austin Technology Council
A graduate of Austin College, Mr. John received his CLU designation in 1982, ChFC in 1985, and CFP in 1995.
