Rhodes Food Group Scoops Awards At The SA Dairy Championships

Rhodes Food Group scooped four Champion awards at the annual Agri-Expo DuPont Qualité SA Dairy Championships which took place at Grand West in Cape Town, Wednesday 23 April 2014.

The DuPont Qualité Awards dinner – a dairy highlight of the year – is where dairy producers are recognised and acknowledged for outstanding quality. Hundreds of entries are judged in categories including cheese, butter, cottage cheese, yoghurt, flavoured milk, dairy dips, ice-cream and dairy dessert.

The Rhodes Ayrshire Stud Farm, based on 104 hectares of land in Franschhoek, received recognition for its top quality milk, cream and cheese products, which it produces for a number of South Africa’s top retailers.

“Rhodes Dairy products are available throughout South Africa under the Portobello brand. They are also exclusively available at Woolworths under their own Private Label brand,” says Ilse Spies, Rhodes Food Group General Manager for Dairy.

Rhodes Dairy was awarded four SA Champions, three runner ups and two third place awards, as follows:

Dairy Champions

  • Low Fat Buttermik – Portobello Food Service Smooth Cultured Buttermilk
  • Woolworths Ricotta
  • Woolworths Mini Duetto Tomato and Balsamic
  • Portobello Angelot

Runner ups:

  • Portobello Franschoek White
  • Portobello Apricot and Almond Mascarpone
  • Woolworths Tallegio

Second Runner ups:

  • Woolworths Bocconcini
  • Portobello Melange
